New Hair

Ok so what happened was ... at first my hair was great but the last few days it just has looked awful and wouldn't cooperate at all. So Katherine took me to her hair dresser (a cross dresser) who does hair for stars over here. We waited a long time at the shop (no other dresser was there) for him to come in by the time he did Kat was out with Kalia to get her some food...so I think because I was talking about my 'curly' hair being a problem he thought I wanted to get rid of the curls...he cut, razored and ironed my hair and this is what happened! I hate the side, I wonder about the front, and I haven't a clue what will happen after I wash it....so ....opinions please. I'm pretty sure what Andy will say....or NOT say! Anyway its an experience right????WE'RE HEADING TO THE MOUNTAINS AT 3 TUES MORNING TO AVOID MANILA TRAFFIC! SEE YA THURSDAY WHEN WE GET BACK...PROBABLY FRIDAY AS WE WILL GET BACK LATE. Our time is almost up here...how sad!

Swimming at Fontana in Clark Air Base!

So today is Saturday.. since Lilia went out and Don and Andy went shopping I decided to do our laundry, which usually the lady that works in the house, Cecil, does. It was an old fashion spin washer and took a bit of time...but the clothes dried on the line so fast....everyone hangs up clothes here!BUT the fun thing was Dennis, Lilia's brother in law, took us all swimming at this beautiful pool...as I left my bathing suit in Canada, I was wearing what I wore to the ocean. But they wouldn't let me in the water because I didn't have a spagetti strap top...however I sat by the rock in the water, on the left side of the first picture...it was there I met the Korean lady and discovered she was a Christian, a pastor's wife, a missionary to the mountain people here, who came down after the volcano. She invited Andy and I to come visit with her and the 31 (including kids) team workers that were with her! THAT was exciting...and if I hadn't been forbidden to swim I'd never have met her! They were either 1st or second generation Christians. One had come to know the Lord because of the Doulos...the OMF ship! It was fun trying to communicate...some talked and understood English well...but I was told I talk too fast!

Bargaining with the Locals// Finally found some monkeys

I'm so glad Katherine Inch is here to take and post pictures for us! We just had, as she said, two days near Subic Bay, Olongopo, where Terra worked with YWAM. It is the ocean, beautiful, warm, clear water! Andy and I, as you see, walked down the beach, not very far, but were gone for hours. We sat on the beach and up came an outrigger with a family of fishermen onboard. They jumped out and started pulling in a rope. Andy offered to help not realizing that there were at least 6 ropes to be pulled in....barefeet on the hot sand! He stayed with it and finally the net came in with really very few small silver fish in it. But he had good interaction with the people. A great cultural experience! When it was time for the actual net to come in most people jumped into the water to help....including ME!!!!.. When we got back our hosts were out looking for us fearing we'd been kidnapped!
YES the shave was tremendously painful. I thought it was a hot towel, shaving cream shave. Poor Andy...but it was a great shave! Will he do it again?????

Baloy Beach in Olongapo/Subic Bay

I told the story of our walk up above this! Fascinating! The sellers started the minute we arrived and unlike Mexico they did NOT take no for an answer. It was very difficult at times but I bought some things with the help of Katherine I didn't spend too much!

So we are spending ALOT of time with Kalia! Here's a picture of her at McDonald's for Sierra and Ocean. She sure wishes we had brought the girls with us!
On day one we also came across a monument dedicated to the soldiers who went through the World War 11 'death march'. It was amazing! I need to talk to my dad about what he remembers hearing about that!!!!!

Day 1

So day one! Of course we had to hit McDonald's...but you know what...I had rice and chicken..for breakfast! Hey I'm in the Philippines! There were small children with their parents who were selling things outside and were very aggessive...not in school...that tells you something about their home situation. We spent alot of time in the 'nipa hut' and even went and priced 4 more. It's so comfortable! It's at Don and Lilia's 'resort' that they are building...that means a place you can rent for the day for birthday parties etc. Everyday something new is done there. You know what I love? We just live outside!

Finally Here!
